PT Multi Kontrol Nusantara was established as a subsidiary of Bakrie & Brothers, engaging in professional electronics equipment, designing and manufacturing telephones and teleprinters for retail and institutional customers.
A recognition of excellence
MKN's teleprinter MKN-8400 received the Best Product and UPAKARTI awards by the Government of Indonesia. Use of MKN-8400 teleprinters were prevalent in government institutions and banks.
Gaining trust to forge ahead
Through a subcontracting deal from the state telephone company PT Telkom, for a five-year Build, Operate, Transfer (BOT) project phases 1, 2 & 3, MKN successfully deployed more than 200,000 telephone lines in Jakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya areas.
Our expansion to telecommunications
MKN played a significant role in the establishment of Ratelindo, Indonesia's first fixed-wireless telecommunications provider. MKN also supported technical and logistical needs at the Uzbektelecom International AO (UZI), in which the fruit of MKN's ambitious project-ARTS (Advanced Rural Telephony System)-was implemented in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
Consolidation amidst adversity
The Asian systemic financial crisis adversely affected MKN's ability to finance its big-capital businesses, forcing it to transfer the rights on its several key projects. No longer engaged in manufacturing, MKN now focused instead on systems integration and infrastructure-related projects.

Under a new leadership, MKN realigned its vision and strategy to become a total service solutions provider in telecommunications. With solid financial support, effective and efficient operations, MKN clinched crucial projects that fueled up its progress in the telecommunications industry, most notably through its deal with Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC).
MKN has made a investment in tower sites for BTEL in 2007 in Jakarta area and Sangata, Kaltim.
Our venture into infrastructure
Leveraging on its vast experience in operations and maintenance in the mining industry, MKN widened its focus to include infrastructure for the telco industry, especially in Outside Plan Optical Fiber Cable Projects.

Telephony with wide variety of telephone providers, Internet as a gateway to the world, and soon there will be unlimited TV channels, HD Channels, CCTV, and more.
Embracing new possibilities
MKN signed a commitment with the government to provide fiber optic network for the telco industry. It became a local multimedia and telecommunications services operator, covering the largest area at Epicentrum Kuningan Jakarta.
MKN develops and owns tower sites in Jakarta area and Belitung island in 2010. Our customer is XL Axiata operate the wireless networks for data and voice. in 2012 MKN has divested all MKN towers.

Firming up the foundation to leap ahead
As it continues to strengthen its solid base in the telecommunications services, MKN aims to achieve even greater growths and expands its reach to a new field in which it possesses a deep understanding and expertise: ICT Network Infrastructure Construction. The merging of these two fields brings in new, promising prospects for serving a more diverse range of clients in the long run.
